5 minutes with Your Soul Self

Sometimes I feel stuck.
Even when there's something I know will help and I actually want to do, I find myself avoiding it.
And then its easy to get frustrated with myself:
Why can't I just do it?
This makes me feel even more stuck. Worse, I also feel bad about myself. This is not a helpful combo.
It's true that sometimes I need to stay in those feelings for a little bit. I'm actually not ready to move or release anything.
But when it is time to make a change, it helps to ask this myself this question:
What's stopping me?
Sometimes it's enough to ask myself this question and listen for my answer internally.
But what I have found even more helpful is to take it a step further and do this:
I get out my notebook and write whatever words are right there.
This doesn't mean spending a bunch of time thinking about it.
This doesn't mean writing something "nice" that would be fit for someone else to read.
This doesn't mean trying to figure it out.
This means:
Telling the truth to myself by recording whatever words are right there when I ask myself the question, "What's stopping me?"
I set a 5 minute timer and let words out.
I might get into list-writing mode, stacking factors and reasons on my page.
I might write line after line of complaints and grievances.
I might end up writing something that feels quite unrelated to what I might have thought was the "problem".
However it unfolds is okay.
The point is to get the words out so I can see them.
Then, I read my words back.
When I read my words back, I try not to read through the eyes of my inner critic.
I read my words through the eyes of my Soul Self.
✨I read my words as if I was reading something a dear friend wrote.
✨Reading my words is how I listen to myself.
✨Reading my words is how I access the part of me that can help me step out of whatever loop I'm in.
Asking myself what's stopping me? is helpful when I'm feeling stuck because my answers often show me where I need some modifications or accommodations.
For example, recently I've been wanting to do a loop of The Diner, but I just kept avoiding it, even though I knew it would be helpful, interesting, and even fun.
When I asked myself what's stopping me, I discovered that the biggest issue was time. I didn't feel like I could make the time to do the thing I want to do.
Not doing it is okay.
Like I said, sometimes I actually need to be in the space of avoidance for awhile. But I had been there long enough and I knew I wanted to move forward. So I made an accommodation for myself. If it felt too hard to find the time to do what I wanted to do, could I find a way to modify so it takes less time?
Yes.
Yes, I could.
By modifying the the process for myself a little bit and therefore removing the time barrier, suddenly the way was clear for me to do the thing I wanted to do.
I started a loop of The Diner and ended up discovering something new about myself. (Of course I did! That's what The Diner is for! I knew that, yet still I resisted it. It happens!)
Here's the message I wanted to share with you:
Moving forward doesn't have to require a herculean effort.
Sometimes all it takes is noticing what's stopping us and making little adjustments that clear out the resistance.
We can do this gently + incrementally.
We can practice.
And we don't have to do it alone.
The four paths Rosalee and I have created through The Plumb Collective are here to support you.
Whatever question you have, however you're stuck: Photo Readings, Clarity Calls, Plumb Practice, and The Diner can help you listen to your own answer.
If you want to dive in and start practicing, Plumb Practice and The Diner are for you. Together, they are Intuition School! You will learn to listen to yourself.
If you want to start with Rosalee's guidance, book a Photo Reading or a Clarity Call. Both paths only require your curiosity. There's nothing you need to do but listen.
Rosalee's words will turn your head and give you a new perspective.
What's stopping you?
With love,
Sarah
